Interview conducted by Odessa Neaman as part of the LDS Native American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western studies at Brigham Young University on June 12, 1990. Garrett grew up in Belmont, Arizona. She talks about her early life there, the death of her father, and the family moving to Flagstaff, Arizona. She describes her early religious experiences and her decision to attend Brigham Young University. She discusses her conversion to the Mormon Church while at BYU as well as her interracial marriage. She talks about her experiences as a member of the Lamanite Generation performing group at BYU.
